Delivery speed: 10 minutes vs. reality
Blinkit and Zepto both advertise 10-minute delivery. Reviews suggest actual median delivery times of 12–18 minutes in well-served metro areas, rising to 25–35 minutes during peak evening hours. BigBasket's same-day slot model draws fewer speed complaints because expectations are set correctly at checkout.
Zepto scores highest for freshness among quick-commerce apps — 71% of positive reviews specifically mention fruits and vegetables arriving in good condition, versus 58% for Blinkit.
Pricing: platform fees and substitutions
Handling fees and surge pricing are the top complaint across all three platforms (31% of negative reviews). Customers are particularly frustrated by item substitutions that are not communicated until delivery — receiving a different brand at the same price without approval. BigBasket handles substitutions most transparently, with in-app notification before dispatch.
